When we come to the final reveal what Pine learns and her savior Sam Kettler hear from someone close to why there is a nuke in a cave in the Grand Canyon, you won’t believe why it’s there, the reason and the catastrophes that would follow if the plan is a success. She is impetuous, relentless and at times you realize that some of her anger is geared to her memory of losing Mercy and she seems to take it all out on anyone that dares come up against her.

The author created a character that seems super human at times and knows just how to take down adversaries and you wonder just how much her head and body can handle. The bodies are piling up and the authorities whether real or just looking for her keep her on the move as she learns a lot from a flash drive belonging to Ben Priest and her next move is to find what has been placed in the Grand Canyon before it explodes. They travel quite far, and a Chinese man named Chung even finds them on a train and how they deal with him is unbelievable and anyone that dares to defy these two has no chance at all. We then learn about an organization called Society for Good and one man reveals certain information, Pine and Blum follow him to the airport, they are attacked by two fake airport security guards and the moves she makes has you wondering if she is more MMA than FBI. But anyone involved in this investigation winds up dead meeting with Pine and Russell is just one of many casualties.
When Pine realizes who the person was that rode the camel, just where is David Roth, what happened to Ben Pine and who does a man named Simon Russell know. Just what is so important about Ben Priest, where is he and why are so many interested in him remains yet to be revealed? But Atlee overstepped her thinking and was blindsided twice by two thugs and someone who almost took her out. Atlee gets information about him from someone else and both lead them to what they think might help a simple flash drive. But she is impetuous, tenacious and the two team up and the result will shock readers.Ĭarol meets with Mary Priest and befriends her taking a key from her purse to access Ben Priest’s house. Her assistant Carol Blum is smart, and they team up like Thelma and Louise or their version of Bonnie and Clyde to hunt down these two men but at what cost to her career as she was reprimanded by her superior to stop the investigation or lose her job with the FBI. So, where are they and how did they disappear and what is behind it all?
Atlee handles it well and they contact Ben Priest but what happens is startling and shocking as her vehicle is rear ended, she is injured, wakes up in the hospital and there is no record of the two other bodies at the scene. When the brother shows up things get dicey and she allows him to tell his story to her and puts his family in protective custody as he attempts to take her out while she appears to be sleeping. As she delves into his life there is nothing that she can find out until contact is made with his brother. The mule is one of the Grand Canyon mules and the rider seems to have as she investigates a checkered past and present and her goal is to find out what happened to Ben Priest. Her sister Mercy was taken and never seen again, her fate she can only predict, and the years that followed hardened Attlee and her story is one that is tragic.Ītlee is assigned to Shattered Rock Arizona resident agency and learns about this mule and the rider is missing it sends her on a quest to find out what happened to him. This begins with a flashback to where her life at a young age took a turn for the tragic as she and her twin sister were attacked by an unknown intruder. But when focused on her mission it all begins with the death of a mule that has been seriously mutilated and killed in a graphic way that the author has described where you can see every detail of the destruction. She is about to embark on a mission and case that could destroy her career and take her life. Atlee Pine is tenacious, ruthless and a one-woman FBI Agent in a small isolated town that has few crimes.
